Description:The Hardwood Lumber Company, located in Burton, in northeast Ohio, was established in 1958. The company began as a small sawmill and has The Hardwood Lumber Company harvests all species of hardwood trees from local forests within a 50 mile radius and ships them to the company's sawmill. Logs are then sawn into lumber and sorted by specie, thickness, and grade. The sawn lumber is air-dried on separator sticks in the lumberyard for 4-9 months and then kiln-dried until a desired moisture level of 6-8% is reached. The highest quality lumber is milled into architectural mouldings or used to produce stair treads and countertops. Lower grade lumber is moulded and shaped into blocks for brushes and brooms. The byproduct, sawdust, heats the company's buildings and wood kilns. progressively expanded into a large manufacturing plant with over 40 employees, producing stair treads, countertops, architectural mouldings and a full line of brushes and brooms.
